Music

Parasocial is myself (vocals + synth), Peter (guitar), and Victor (drums). The three of us met at an open jam, and from the beginning, we wanted to focus on writing original music together. Fortunately, we synergized both in music and in friendship. We got together once a week to write music, whether it's starting with someone's preconceived idea that they brought in or with a jam session from which we'd gather the most convincing parts. It helped that our diverse yet complementary influences interacted in a beautiful and interesting way.

We played our first show in July 2024 at Kenyon House in Columbia Heights. It was a DIY show in a backyard with vendors and artists lining the far wall and bands playing by the house. Since then, we've played other small, independent venues like Pie Shop, The Pocket, and Simple Bar & Grill, usually with other DIY bands from the local music scene.

We released our debut album, Inner Tensions, in July 2025. The album focuses on the many frictions (or tensions haha) of being embedded in society and being in relation with other people, whether it's trying to keep pace with one's ever-evolving identities, journeying to find authenticity and meaning in modern life, or synthesizing different perspectives for greater social understanding.
